Jindera 150th Celebrations

Jindera's celebration of 150 years of settlement will take place over the Labour Day weekend of 28.29.30 September 2018


A committee has been formed to commence the planning of what it is hoped will be a weekend to remember


Our current plans include a welcome on the evening of 28th September where registrations can take place and across the road, at the Village Green, a Community BBQ is being organised.

Jindera 150th Celebrations Beard Growing Competition Update
Beard Growing Race
A quick re-cap: The Beard Growing competition is fun way of promoting the Jindera 150 th Celebrations. This is a Beard Growing Race where entrants present shaven or to be shaved, and then walk past the razor every morning until the Jindera 150 celebrations on the October Long Weekend. The winner receives Accommodation, Dinner and Breakfast at Tuileries resort Rutherglen.
THERE IS STILL TIME TO ENTER – This is a long distance race, not a sprint as some competitors will have fallen on their razor before the end of the competition. Call Peter Martin Jindera,  150 BGC Coordinator on 041 8808 242 or email pjhlmartin@gmail.com to enter.
For those who cannot bear to shave their beard off, or wish to just enter on the day, the Best Beard of the Day wins Braun Shaver and Most Interesting Beard wins a WAHL Beard Trimmer courtesy of Harvey Norman Albury.
 Thirteen men registered at, representing the Jindera 150 Committee, Morgan country Car Club, Jindera Angling Club and Jindera Football Netball Club as well as individual entries. A further bearded five men elected to keep their beards and entered for the two minor categories.  
People can still enter any of the three categories,.
To support your Competitor, T Shirts are available for sale in the Jindera Post Office.
Pictured are four contestants: Mark Taylor representing the Jindera Anglers Club, Scott Martin and Frank Thompson individual entries, and Kel Schofield , who could not be parted from his Beard, and is in the running for the Best Beard on the Day and/ or the Most interesting Beard, representing the Morgan Country Car Club.

Saturday 29 September - Beard Growing Competition Judging Day 

Saturday 10:30am, September 29 - Jindera 150th Celebration Street Parade:
The parade will assemble at 10 am and leave from Saint Mary McKillop College at 10.30 am making its way along Urana Street past the Museum, then left into Adams Street, then Wood Street and into the Recreation Reserve where entertainment and activities will be held all day.
Saturday 7pm, September 29 - Commemorative Ball:
St Johns School Hall. Tickets on sale now. Party like it’s 1868. MC is Steve Bowen. Formal, Period dress optional.
